I live and work in the high Sonoran desertscape of North Scottsdale.  Surrounded by a panorama of shimmering city lights at night and breathtaking Troon Mountain, Pinnacle Peak and McDowell Mountain views during the day. Residents refer to their Scottsdale home as "paradise".
 
Scottsdale (pop. 210,000) is one of the Southwest's most desirable cities to call home. The "Valley of the Sun" has over 170 golf courses, outstanding shopping, fine dining, renowned arts, and world-famous spas. This young, active and wealthy community borders Phoenix to the east and north. 
 
Scottsdale's popularity is well-deserved. The beautiful Sonoran desert, Southwest Sunsets, the McDowell Mountains and an abudance of sunshine provides outdoors lovers year-round activities, including miles of hiking and biking trails. Scottsdale is host to annual events such as cactus league training, the FBR Phoenix Open and the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction. There is always plenty of entertainment. Go to Fashion Square Mall and you may even run into a celebrity.   
 
Growing up in Youngstown, Ohio and then spending many years in radio and television broadcasting, I've moved form town to town, "up and down the dial". From Pittsburgh to Richmond to Detroit and back again. A corporate career as a business executive consisted of "road-warrior" business travel to every state and town in the United States. There was a always special feeling about Arizona when I visited and that's why I made Scottsdale my home. I moved to North Scottsdale's McDowell Mountain Ranch community in 1997 and haven't looked back.  Why should I? The weather is sunny, there's non-stop outdoor activities, and the resort atmosphere gives you that "I'm on vacation" feeling every day of the year.  Did I mention the breathtaking sunsets? I really do live in "paradise".
